Achieve close collaboration of the partner regions to ensure peace and promote prosperity in an area marked by strong regional and cultural diversity. This collaboration can also provide an important added value at European level as the co-operation area is located at a crucial interface (old and new MS, one Accession Country) and will address challenges & opportunities of recent and future enlargement.
Establish a transnational co-operation area in order to gain mutual advantages through collaboration, avoid duplication and overlaps, itensify collaboration with two new MS after enlargement, achieve critical mass in many domains and become more competitive in an enlarged Europe.
Improve integrated and co-ordinated development on the territory of the co-operation area through a trans-national organisational structure which is capable to provide stable interrelations among spatially relevant sectoral policy makers throughout the entire territory.
